A pleasantly surreal and unexpected performance took the passengers of a subway car by surprise. What started off as a boring subway ride turned into a class act by the Broadway cast of ‘The Lion King‘.

The stars of the show blended into the crowd waiting for that perfect moment to attack. Within a few minutes into the ride, a woman sprung up from her seat and belted out an Oscar nominated, Elton John classic. While a few found the absent-minded woman to be hilarious, others were charmed and before anybody could guess, the entire cast had joined in from their seats and it was clear as day that this was not just a coincidence but a well-planned performance.

The cast had decided to give the people this pleasant surprise as a part of their celebration marking themselves as Broadway’s first and only $1 billion show. The coincidence of the subway serving 1 billion people the previous year, tied the two neatly together and was a match made in heaven.
