Over the past couple months, rumors have surfaced that the Samsung Galaxy S5 would launch at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in February 2014. These rumors may be true, as the Korean media has confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S5 launch will happen at the event held in Barcelona, Spain.

This confirmation is based on a meeting between the media and Samsung Electronics Vice President of Design Team Dong-hoon Chang at a Neq Year’s event at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul. When asked whether the launch for the Galaxy S5 would occur at MWC 2014, Chang noted that the speculation was “about right”.

Chang also alluded that Samsung would be using new material for the Galaxy S5, which may confirm previous reports of an aluminum anybody metal chassis. Samsung is also reviewing whether it should include a flexible OLED display for the device – the new material and flexible display could be rumored for the premium version of the Galaxy S5 (Galaxy F).

Other rumored specifications may include:

  • 2K Screen Resolution
  • 64-bit Exynos chipset/Snapdragon chipset
  • 3GB of RAM
  • 16MP camera
  • 4000mAh battery
  • Android 4.4 KitKat with TouchWiz UI
