Hosted by Ellen Degeneres, the Academy Awards held on Sunday saw some amazing moments of victory, as well as amusement. Probably the biggest highlight of the event though, was the A-list selfie that was shot right in the middle of it.

The picture that is currently the most retweeted photo on Twitter, was clicked by Bradley Cooper flanked by some of the biggest stars in Hollywood.
The stars who posed with Ellen Degeneres in the famed photo include Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, Bradley Cooper, Lupita Nyong’o, Jennifer Lawrence, Jared Leto, Kevin Spacey and Channing Tatum.
This picture didn’t even wait for official confirmation to be declared the most epic selfie in history. Within 45 minutes after it was posted on Twitter by Ellen Degeneres, the photo was retweeted more than 750,000 times.
Shortly after the pic was posted, Twitter began to experience technical issues and even shut down for a while. @TheAcademy instantly apologized for the outages. One of the most talked about points of the night, this selfie spread to pretty much every continent very fast.
An hour after the photo had been posted, it was retweeted over two million times and trounced the former record-holder for most retweets – Barack Obama’s election-winning tweet in 2012. Obama’s ‘Four More Years’ tweet had a little over 780,000 retweets; no comparison to the Oscar selfie.
Photos of different angles of the selfie being taken have also been made public, showing iconic singer Liza Minnelli also attempting to join. Being 5’4 tall, and standing right at the back, she apparently didn’t make it into the picture. Additionally, Twitter users also began to tweet their own interpretations and versions of group shots, giving rise to the new phenomenon aptly called the ‘Wefie’.
